H.A.I.L | Karsten

This season we're following the HAIL (Honest Authenticity Integrity Love) method here at Source Home + Object. If you're not familiar with Julian Treasure and his method you can check out his TED Talk here - it's worth a watch.

Following on from our Exhibitor Profiles we did last show, we would like to continue the theme but find out what HAIL means to our exhibitors.

Erika Brabyn, KARSTEN, What Does H.A.I.L mean to you?

HONESTY: Means to tell the truth. I always tell the truth because it is simpler and easier. For example my husband is helping me write this because my first language is Brazilian Portuguese and I often need help expressing myself in English. I expect honesty from all the people I meet and interact with through both my personal and business life. I believe in treating others as I would like to be treated.

AUTHENTICITY: Means to be yourself. So its like telling the truth in presenting yourself as you really are. I don't pretend to be someone else.

INTEGRITY: Means doing what you say you will do, but more than that it includes both honesty and authenticity. I always intend to follow through on what I say I will do and I get quite stressed when things outside my control get in the way of that. When something does go wrong I always fall back on being honest about what has happened or changed to affect the desired outcome. I find that people generally understand and respect that.

LOVE: Love is positive energy. I love what I do and like to share that with the people I meet, and I genuinely want to make a positive difference in their lives. In my business I am bringing something I love from Brazil to make a positive difference here in new Zealand. I also like to think that by listening carefully and sharing my passions and enthusiasm I make a positive difference to everyone I meet.
